I. DD Coordinator Report - Sandra Butts
- Sandra shared that the Health and Human Needs Dept. plans
to have only 1 CMO that provides both Aging and DD Services. Executive State Administration met and they are collaborating to move forward with this.
Waiting for final stamp of approval.
- Leslie Taylor Cooley- Project Organizer, should be
updating website to reflect these plans, including a general org. chart.
- DSD is meeting with agencies that serve both the under 60
and the over 60 individuals in FC to discuss design elements.
- Sandra asked for sharing of positive stories of
involvement as people move to Family Care (FC) as they are working to
build on what works well and continue to improve the program.
- Sandra challenged the group to assist in organizing a
larger pool of self-advocates to learn about the changes occurring and be
able to advocate for how this will effect their service delivery.

Discussion was held about possibility of making a video of the
presentations to have available for staff who can not attend at times of
training. Will discuss with Bob Eisnebart, presenter and discuss at next
MADDSA meeting.

Spring Open House taking place- students will visit different
agencies and learn more about possibilities.

E. Transit Committee - Lori Paprocki

This committee is being revived. They have asked that agencies
compile a list of issues and bring to the next meeting.
F. Health Disparities -Martha DeGraw
- Next Meeting- June 14th in the afternoon - time
and place TBD
- Transportation Group: Subcommittee will
again be addressing transportation issues as it relates to T-19 rides, may
want to collaborate between MADDSA Subcommittee and Health Disparities
Subcommittee.
- Oral Health Group: WCTC clinic will take
place this fall- all 16 slots have been taken- individuals will receive a
4 hour appointment including x-rays, cleaning, applying sealants, and
training to caregivers. Plan to repeat in spring with same group. Plan to
present at Jewel Conference. Plan to expand desensitization program to
help individuals become more comfortable with people looking into their
mouth.
- Ethics Group: Meeting every other month-
putting on a training in July/August targeted to CM's.
- Crisis/Psych Group: Put together a survey
and would like feedback from providers about their experience with psych
and challenging behaviors. Will post survey on MADDSA as well. Working
with Dr. O'Grady to develop a database for T-19 psychiatrists, and other
professionals. Working with college psych. students to do a rotation
through Phoenix Care to get exposure to the DD population. Also noted
that the Crisis Home currently has an opening. Maureen Conaty is looking
for feedback on interest in trainings in this area to be offered through Milwaukee County at no cost.
- A suggestion was made to update County Sup. Roger Quindel about the work being done by the Health Disparities Group. Martha will
follow up with making contact.
- An outline is being developed to provide to Grand Rounds
and to provide training to large healthcare providers.
- The Health Disparities Group is always looking for new
members- anyone is welcome to join.
G. PCM Report - Lois Degner
- Rally is being replaced by legislative breakfast. Are
pushing to get 200 people at the breakfast. They are partnering with Milw.
Co. on managed care, to ensure that consumers are educated.
- A few people are looking into the Long Term Care
Functional Screen to ensure it meets the needs of DD clients.
- Next meeting is being scheduled
- Full group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every
month @ ARC at 9am.
IV. Membership
- Caregiver Recognition: It was agreed to plan a day
of celebration including free lunch, training, and appreciation for
caregivers. Tom will put together a committee to plan and will plan to
hold in October- all are welcome to participate.
V. Other Business
- Discussed future of residential meetings. Sandra stated
that they will hold a meeting on June 14th after MADDSA to
address concerns raised by providers about who to contact for which
issues.
- Tom encouraged Residential Providers to attend the full
MADDSA meeting in order to learn about changes occurring that will affect
them as well as the full system.
